What is pull printing, and why do I need it?
Pull printing (or Print2Me) is a model in which a document is not printed until the user physically arrives at the printer and authenticates themselves. This eliminates papers left behind in trays (a risk of information leakage), reduces paper waste by approximately 30%, and eliminates lines at overloaded printers because users can pick up their prints wherever they want, not where they sent them.
How does Gespage on-premises differ from Gespage Stratus?
Gespage on-premises runs on your own infrastructure with a perpetual license + maintenance—ideal for regulated sectors (government, healthcare, defense) or companies that require data sovereignty. Gespage Stratus is the cloud-based, managed SaaS version, ideal for SMBs and multi-site organizations that prefer OpEx and zero infrastructure.
Why choose the on-premises version over the cloud version?
On-premises is the right choice when: (a) your industry requires data sovereignty (government, healthcare, defense); (b) you have air-gapped environments without internet access; (c) you prefer CapEx (perpetual license) over OpEx (subscription); or (d) you already have robust IT infrastructure and prefer to operate it yourself.
Does Gespage work with any brand of printer?
Yes. Gespage is multi-brand and supports e-Terminals embedded in printers from HP, Canon, Xerox, Brother, Kyocera, Konica Minolta, Epson, Fujifilm, Ricoh, Lexmark, Sharp, and Toshiba. For printers without an e-Terminal, you can use the TCM4 proximity reader with a USB or LAN connection.
How does Gespage integrate with Active Directory or Microsoft Entra ID?
Gespage integrates with Active Directory (LDAP) and Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD). Users are automatically synchronized, and groups and roles are mapped to Gespage quotas and policies.
What authentication methods does Gespage support?
RFID cards (MIFARE, HID, EM, Legic, NFC), numeric PINs, corporate credentials (username/password), a mobile app with a QR code, and proximity authentication using the TCM4 reader. Multiple methods can coexist depending on the user’s profile—for example, the same environment can use cards for employees and PINs for contractors.
Can I migrate from Gespage on-prem to Stratus later?
Yes. We have an assisted migration path that moves users, quotas, policies, and historical reports from on-premises to Gespage Stratus with no noticeable downtime. The DOQSOFT implementation team manages this as part of the transition from a perpetual license to a subscription model.
